Centrally located in Birmingham, Alabama, we are positioned to serve your needs throughout the Southeast. The Company was founded in 1996 by Mark W. Hayes, who continues as owner-operator. In 2004, Hayes Pipe Organ Service was re-organized as a private corporation operating under the laws of the state of Alabama, with Mark as President and CEO and KC Hayes as Vice-President.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Music degree in organ performance from Birmingham-Southern College, receiving the degree in 1985. He continued his studies at the University of North Texas, focusing on organ and harpsichord performance. While there, he began learning about the organ from the other side of the console, apprenticing several years for Garland Pipe Organs, under the guidance of Dan Garland.
In 1996, Mark and his family returned to his home state of Alabama, where he began building the company. Through his on-going work with a variety of churches, schools, private individuals, as well as through collaboration with notable builders in North America, the company continues to expand the number of instruments under its care in the region. Hayes Pipe Organ Service, Inc. maintains approximately sixty instruments in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
